Truly Bone poems by Hilda Raz

Published with the Women's Studio Workshop (Rosedale, NY), Truly Bone is an artist's book which features four poems accompanying Kunc's layered prints. The images are etching, aquatint spit bite and drypoint from multiple copper plates using sixteen colors. The type is 11 pt. Romulus; the text paper is cream Italian Alcantara. The sheets are tipped together and onto a spine hinge adhering them at center to a paper cover wrapped in a wood-block printed pattern paper. 20 continuous accordion-folded pages. 7 3/4 h x 7 7/8 inches closed. 150 inches open. 50 copies. 1999.

Mexican Gothic by Vinnie-Marie D'Ambrosio


This is a colorfully narrative poem by New York poet Vinnie-Marie D'Ambrosio lavishly illustrated with complex and playful woodcut prints by Karen Kunc. Inspired by the real home of painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, this tale creates a rebirth of life through the grand feast day of death, el Diá de los Muertos. The book visually creates a life-size calavera for vertical display. Printed from 10 pt. Garamont light types and multi-color reduction woodcut on Frankfort cream paper, folded accordion style into a black paper slipcase. 4 x 8 inches folded, 10 feet x 8 inches open. 50 copies signed by the author. 1993. $300.00
