Storyteller with Seven Children–This classic Cochiti storyteller was crafted by Mary Francis Herrera. Nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande River between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cochiti Pueblo is noted for its finely crafted clay figures known as storytellers. They were first created by Helen Cordero in the early 1970s to honor her grandfather, a master of native oral tradition.
