Terminology

The following terms are used in the handbook and myMAPP.

  • Academic Year – Represented by the 4-digit year of the fall semester, academic year includes fall, spring and summer semesters.
  • Acknowledge - Signifies an owner’s recognition of, not necessarily agreement with feedback.
  • Archive – A function that saves a view so that in can no longer be edited. Archived views may be moved to the UNO datamart where they may be used for reports.
  • Attachment – A data file linked to an entry for the purpose of providing further documentation/explanation or evidence of proficiency.
  • Collect – The act of creating entries with myMAPP data fields for the purpose of documenting progress toward goals and/or providing evidence of learning or other proficiencies within the ePortfolio.
  • Collection – A data display of ePortfolio entries synonymous with view.
  • Entry – an item submitted/created in myMAPP that is related to an area, category and category detail.
  • Feedback – A response from a recipient who has been granted the privilege of providing objective critique on an owner generated artifact, reflection and/or view.
  • Owner - Refers to the person logged into the ePortfolio.
  • Recipient – Refers to the person(s) who are given access to an ePortfolio view.
  • Reflection – A data field where critique of an artifact or view occurs for the purpose of evaluating it against personal, professional or external standards.
  • Reviewer – refers to the person(s) that is given access to review and provide feedback to a view.
  • Share - A process that supports owner sharing of selected data fields with others for the purpose of receiving feedback (peer to peer, student to advisor, student to instructor), applying for graduate school or jobs and/or demonstrating emerging and/or acquired proficiencies.
  • View – A unique document using a template that is based on entries created within an ePortfolio. This view can be shared with others
