Welcome to the UNO Department of Music. The Department of Music is one of five academic units within the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media. We are located in the Janet A. and Willis S. Strauss Performing Arts Center, which is next to the focal point of the campus, a campanile that has a carillon of forty-seven bells. The Strauss PAC has a tunable recital hall which seats 460, impressive acoustic isolation, and well-equipped classrooms and rehearsal spaces. The Strauss PAC serves as a center of musical activity for the university and the city of Omaha.
The recital hall, rehearsal spaces and classrooms in the Strauss Performing Arts Center are available for rental to groups within and outside the university. Please contact our Reservation Coordinator and Building Manager, Jennifer Walcutt, at (402) 554-3427 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, as early as possible for reservations. Reservations for outside events are confirmed on a first come, first served basis, and UNO Department of Music Events have priority over outside events.
The Strauss Performing Arts Center is located on the UNO campus between the University Library and the Milo Bail Student Center on University Drive, parallel to Dodge Street.
Any food served in the Strauss Performing Arts Center must be ordered through UNO Catering and served and eaten in the lobby only. All events held in the Strauss Performing Arts Center must adhere to the UNO Food Policy listed below. For more information or to schedule catering for your event contact UNO Food Services at (402) 554-2400.
