Kimberly Lomax (formerly Weiser)

Kimberly Lomax joined the UNO Music Department in 2006 as Artist Voice Faculty and as the director of the UNO Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Ms. Lomax earned her Bachelors degree, Summa Cum Laude, University Scholar, in vocal performance from the University of South Dakota and her Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her studies and degrees are in the area of classical and jazz voice and piano. Since she began teaching at UNO, Ms. Lomax has also taught both as an independent contractor for an Omaha dance and music studio and most recently as the Owner/President of Kimberly Weiser Studio, Inc.

As a jazz singer, Ms. Lomax sang regularly as a sit-in with a jazz combo in Sioux City, IA and Vermillion, SD. She also attended the University of North Texas summer vocal jazz workshop in 2004 under the direction of Paris Rutherford and the 2010 Phil Mattson Summer Vocal Jazz/Choral Workshop where she studied jazz theory and arranging, improvisation, solo, and ensemble singing. Ms. Lomax is currently the jazz vocalist for the local big band, the Swingtones, an offshoot of the Nebraska Wind Symphony. She has sung for such esteemed artists as Michele Weir and Karrin Allyson.

Ms. Lomax’s professional affiliations include the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honors Society.
