Tim Nutting

Tim Nutting joins the UNO faculty as Instructor of Music and Interim Director of the Maverick Marching Band. Mr. Nutting has spent the last 20 years working as a Performer, Instructor, Program Designer, and Adjudicator for marching programs around the Midwest. Most recently, Mr. Nutting has served as the Bands Graduate Assistant at UNO. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he has taught at numerous music programs in Iowa and Nebraska.

Mr. Nutting has performed with a wide variety of well-known ensembles including the Northeast Missouri State University Jazz Ensemble, the Drake University Jazz Ensemble, the University of Nebraska Omaha Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Des Moines Symphony, and the Bob Weast Big Band. His primary conducting teachers have been Dr. James Saker, Dr. Courtney Snyder, Dr. Aimee Beckman-Collier and Robert Meunier. He has had the opportunity to conduct the UNO Wind Ensemble in performances both on and off campus, including the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Professional Conference and the Nebraska Music Educators Profession Conference and on a recently completed European Tour.

Mr. Nutting is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, holding a Bachelors Degree in Percussion Performance. He has also pursued graduate studies in Theory and Composition at Northern Illinois University, and has most recently completed the Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting at the University of Nebraska Omaha. He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the Percussive Arts Society, the Jazz Education Network, the National Association for Music Education and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
