Tim Nutting currently serves as Instructor of Music and Director of the Maverick Marching and Athletic Bands. In addition to his duties with the UNO Athletic Bands, he serves as Director of the University Concert Band and Associate Conductor for the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Mr. Nutting has spent the last 20 years working as a Performer, Instructor, Program Designer, and Adjudicator for marching programs around the Midwest and also served as the Bands Graduate Assistant at UNO from 2011 to 2013. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he has worked with numerous music programs throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

As a Percussionist, Mr. Nutting has performed with a wide variety of well-known ensembles including the Northeast Missouri State University Jazz Ensemble, the Drake University Jazz Ensemble, the University of Nebraska Omaha Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Des Moines Symphony, and the Bob Weast Big Band. His primary conducting teachers have been Dr. James Saker, Dr. Courtney Snyder, Dr. Aimee Beckman-Collier and Robert Meunier. He has had the opportunity to conduct the UNO Wind Ensemble in performances both on and off campus, including the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Professional Conference and the Nebraska Music Educators Professional Conference as well as the 2013 European Tour.

Mr. Nutting is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, holding a Bachelors Degree in Percussion Performance. He has also pursued graduate studies in Theory and Composition at Northern Illinois University, and completed the Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting at the University of Nebraska Omaha. He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the College Music Society, the Percussive Arts Society, the Jazz Education Network, the National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Kappa Kappa Psi.
