Judy Divis graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Music in violin performance. She has been a member of the viola section of the Omaha Symphony since 1986 and a member of the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra since 2000. Ms. Divis is also a founding member of the Nova String Quartet, which has just celebrated its 24th year. She has performed with the Lincoln Symphony, the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra, the Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera Omaha and played and recorded with Mannheim Steamroller, Bright Eyes and on the soundtrack of Lovely, Still, a movie starring Martin Landau.
Judy is currently Artist Faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she teaches viola and leads string master classes. She has taught at the Omaha Conservatory of Music, Brownell-Talbot School, Midland Lutheran College, Central Connecticut State University, and through the Office of Continuing Education at the University of Connecticut. She served as a String Specialist for Omaha Public Schools for many years, and used this position to follow all three of her children on their respective paths through public school music. (A spy!)
Judy is also a consultant for the Education Department of the Omaha Symphony for the Community Partnerships program, and a coach and mentor for Omaha Chamber Music Society / Omaha Public Schools/ Omaha Area Youth Orchestras collaborations.
