Judy Divis graduated cum laude with the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Connecticut in 1984). Since that time she has been a violist with the Omaha Symphony since 1986; Member of the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra since 2000; Violist with the Nova String Quartet; and Artist Faculty-instructor of viola at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Ms. Divis has studied violin with Gerard Rosa, Carroll Glenn (“The Way They Play“) Peter Sacco, Dr. Theodore Arm, Wendy Undercofler, and Peter Loro. Viola teachers and mentors include Victor Yampolsky, Clark Potter and Thomas Kluge. She trained in Suzuki pedagogy with Dr. Laurel Thurman and Barbara Krauss at the University of Connecticut. She has served as violist with the Omaha Symphony, Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Lincoln Symphony, and Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. She has served as violinist with the Lincoln Symphony, Nebraska Chamber Orchestra in Nebraska and New Britain Symphony, Harkness Festival Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony and the Faculty Chamber Players of the University of Connecticut. Ms. Divis has previously taught at Midland Lutheran College, Central Connecticut State University, and through the Office of Continuing Education at the University of Connecticut.
