String Studies

The cornerstone of UNO’s String Program is solid studio teaching instruction. In the string studios, emphasis is placed in several areas: mastery of technique; the development of musical skills; learning the standard repertoire; introduction to orchestral and chamber music repertoire, and understanding the efficient and relaxed methods to play.

UNO string students are given a number of performance opportunities through the UNO Chamber Orchestra and the Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra, chamber ensembles such as string quartets and piano trios, guest artist master classes with guest soloists of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, and university events or convocations. There are additional performance opportunities throughout the community such as performing for weddings, receptions, church services, and other community-related activities.
