Helping to Curb the Missouri River

About 100 Omaha high school students have been busy this week filling sand bags to help protect the City of Omaha's South Omaha Sewage Treatment Facility from the rising Missouri River waters. The students are part of UNO's new SummerWorks program which is funded by private donations and supervised by UNO's Service-Learning Academy. The students are gaining work experience, learning new job skills and exploring Omaha this summer.
