23rd Annual UNO Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women Awards Luncheon

Chancellor John Christensen and 128 luncheon participants congratulated the 2009 recipients of the UNO Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women (CCSW) Awards at the 23rd annual luncheon. Held March 24 at the Milo Bail Student Center, the keynote address, 'UNO at 100,' was presented by Les Valentine, Criss Library university archivist, and highlighted the UNO Centennial. This year's recipients included: Outstanding Achievement Award - Marti Rosen-Atherton, director of UNO Counseling Services-University Division, and Effie Swinarski, childcare assistant with the UNO Child Care Center; Student Scholarship Award - Lulu A. Ferdous, UNO junior majoring in aviation; and Community Service Award - YWCA Omaha. Lisa Green from Information Technology Services provided photo highlights of UNO from the last 100 years. CCSW Co-chairs Marvel Maring and Becky Bohan Brown emceed the event. Proceeds from the luncheon go toward CCSW's Student Scholarship Award.
