Kathy Krause, assistant to the senior vice chancellor for budget, has been a vital member of the campus community for two decades. Her knowledge of budget-related topics is very helpful to colleagues.
"Kathy's interpersonal and communication skills are exemplary," one co-worker said. "She is professional, courteous, friendly and has a great sense of balance. She makes herself available as needed to serve by providing information, interpreting policy and reconciling anomalies."
Krause began her UNO career in Account Services and worked in the Budget Office before transferring to Academic Affairs two years ago. She said the experience and knowledge gained from previous job positions has been very beneficial to her success with current duties, and co-workers agree.
"Her job performance is always consistently at the very highest level of excellence," another individual wrote. "In addition, she constantly explores new topics to increase her knowledge and understanding, and/or to apply her expertise to new areas."
Krause regularly interacts with Academic and Student Affairs units across campus. She said she enjoys the variety, as no two days are the same. Her primary duties are to analyze, report and maintain budgets, review and approve personnel action forms (PAFs), and respond to inquiries.
"I love my job, the people, the tasks and the challenges," she said. "The people I work with are amazing, and it's a privilege to work with them."
Being named Employee of the Month took Krause by surprise, but it is an exciting honor for her, especially the reserved prime parking spot.
"I am proud to be a part of UNO, and coming to work each day is something I look forward to and enjoy," she said.
When she's not busy at work, Krause likes to attend her sons' many events, spend time with family and scrapbook.
