Students Study With Enrique Martinez Celaya
Visiting Presidential Professor Enrique Martinez Celaya, left, invited two UNO art students to his studio in Florida this summer for study and hands-on work. Julie Helms, center, is an art history major whose senior thesis focuses on Martinez Celaya's work. Matt Noble, right, is a painter.
An important part of the three-year professorship is the summer internship program, which gives university students the opportunity for practical working experience outside the classroom.
"Matt and Julie were an invaluable help to my studio staff and to me," said Martinez Celaya, who plans return visits to Nebraska this fall and next spring as part of his University of Nebraska professorship. "They joined us while we were involved in fairly complex projects and quickly became great contributors. I appreciated their Nebraska-honed work ethic and their willingness to accept challenges."
