Two Students London Bound
Two School of Communication seniors have been selected to participate in a Washington, D.C.-London internship program this summer.
Yan He (right, above), a journalism-public relations/advertising major, and Amanda Shaff, a journalism-news editorial major, will participate in the program sponsored by the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars.
Participants will spend part of May in Washington, D.C., for orientation, then travel to London, where activities will run until July 27. The program will include a study of British history, and students will intern in London in positions related to their majors. Students also will be advised about opportunities such as cultural celebrations, sporting events, volunteer opportunities and lectures.
Shaff, of Bellevue, plans to graduate in May 2009 and spend a year teaching English in Japan before beginning a career in print media. He, of Zhe Jiang, China, plans to graduate in August and is applying to graduate school for the fall.
