The Mathematics Department graduates about 25-30 undergraduate majors each year. A few of these are double majors. There are also about 40 UNO students per year who receive a minor in Mathematics. Engineering, Computer Science and Physics majors often decide to pick up a second major or a minor in mathematics because it ties in so closely with their primary major. All math majors are assigned a faculty advisor (by the Academic Coordinator) early in their major career, usually about the time when they are finishing up the calculus sequence and making decisions about what comes next. The faculty advisor is typically a professor whom the student has had at least one course from so that the advisor is familiar with the capabilities of the student.
