Math Placement Information

Entrance into certain Math courses are contingent on a student's ACT scores, or their scores on either the Algebra COMPASS or Calculus COMPASS exam.

ACT scores are valid for 5 years. Students who have not taken the ACT or took it more than five years ago must take the Algebra COMPASS or Calculus COMPASS exam. Any student may challenge their ACT placement by taking the Algebra COMPASS or Calculus COMPASS exam. Algebra COMPASS and Calculus COMPASS scores are valid for 2 years. Math Placement scores from UNL cannot be used.

Placement based on ACT Math Sub-Score
MATH 1000: 0-18
MATH 1310: 19-22
MATH 1320: 23-24
MATH 1330: 23-24
MATH 1340: 23-24
MATH 1930: 25
MATH 1950: 26+

Placement based on Algebra COMPASS or Calculus COMPASS exam
MATH 1000: Score = 1
MATH 1310: Score = 3
MATH 1320: Score = 4
MATH 1330: Score = 5
MATH 1340: Score = 5
MATH 1950: Score = 6
