UNO Undergraduate Programs in Library Media
There are three undergraduate Library Science Education programs at UNO. The Bachelor of Science programs are designed to prepare graduates for entry level and leadership positions in a variety of library and information environments.
Students interested in directing a school library media center can pursue:
- Bachelor of Science in Education, Library Media concentration, Teacher Certification.
Students interested in pursuing employment in public, academic and special libraries have two options:
- Bachelor of Science in Education, Library Science concentration, Non-certified (College of Education - COE)
- Bachelor of Science, General Studies, Library Science Major (College of Public Affairs and Community Service - CPACS)
UNO Graduate Programs in Library Media
The University of Nebraska at Omaha's College of Education offers three Graduate Degree programs in Reading, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education with concentrations in library media for candidates interested in directing a school library.
- Library Media Concentration -- Elementary Education
- Library Media Concentration -- Secondary Education
- Library Media Concentration -- Reading
Library Media Endorsement
Candidates who already have a Masters degree can add a school library media endorsement for the purpose of directing a school library media program. The school library media endorsement consists of 33 hours of library science, literacy and technology coursework.
UNO/Missouri Master of Arts in Library Science Degree
The University of Missouri, in cooperation with the University of Nebraska at Omaha, offers an ALA accredited Master's Degree in Library Science that is accessible to students in all parts of Nebraska and other regions of the Midwest.
