Editorial

[1] With the publication of this issue, Dr. Paul Allen Williams’ tenure as editor of the Journal of Religion & Film will come to an end. Paul is resigning as editor so that he can devote more time to his position as chair of the Religious Studies Program and director of the newly created Center for Islamic Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I want to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his years of service to JR&F and I am pleased to say that he will continue serving JR&F as an associate editor.

[2] I am delighted to be able to announce that Dr. Michele Marie Desmarais will be assuming the editorship of JR&F. Michele has been an associate editor of the Journal for the past several years and her first issue will be published in October, 2008. Michele teaches courses on the religions of South Asia and Sanskrit. She is the author of Changing Minds: Mind, Consciousness and Identity in Patanjali’s Yoga-sutra and Cognitive Neuroscience, recently published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishers Private Limited of Delhi, India. Michele also is the author of essays on Hindu film, Buddhist film, and Karma in the movies for a forthcoming Companion to Religion and Film (Continuum Books, London) and she is co-author of “What Are We Teaching When We Teach Religion and Film?” in Greg Watkins’ soon to be published Teaching Religion and Film (Oxford University Press).
