Welcome to the Women's Online Resource!

In the spring of 2005, Louetta Armell of Douglas County Health visited Beth Ritter's Native American Health class to discuss some health concerns of Native Americans living in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area.

Two of these concerns were the rates of Infant Mortality and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.  In Nebraska, the rate of infant mortality among Native Americans is more than double the rate among Caucasions.  The rate of sexually transmitted diseases in Omaha is the nineteenth highest among 19,000 cities in the United States.

Literature discussing these concerns that is culturally tailored for Native Americans is hard to come by.  A group of students from the Native American Health class decided to create this website and two informational pamphlets targeting the Native American community in Omaha.
