Guy Matalon

Guy Matalon is the Jewish Federation of Omaha Professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Born in Jaffa, Israel, and immigrated with his family to Los Angeles in 1981.

B.A. in Political Science, California State University, Northridge
M.A., Ph.D., Medieval Jewish and Islamic Philosophy from New York University

Dr. Matalon wrote his dissertation on Gersonides and Moses Narboni who are two important Jewish philosophers in the 14th century. His dissertation is entitled, “ Gersonides & Narboni on Immortality and Intellection.”

Among the courses he teaches are Introduction to World Religion, Judaic Tradition, Hebrew Bible, and Holocaust. Guy also teaches courses in Judaica throughout the Jewish community of Omaha and is chair of the Rabbi Sidney H. Brooks Lecture Committee.

His main interests of research are medieval Jewish and Islamic thought, and Kabbalah.
