The University of Nebraska at Omaha announces the Metropolitan Advantage Program (MAP). This new tuition initiative offers residents of Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie counties the opportunity to attend UNO undergraduate and graduate programs at a special tuition rate.
For the past 100 years UNO has done an outstanding job serving the needs of students in the greater Omaha metro area. The Metropolitan Advantage Program is a wonderful example of how our dedicated faculty and staff have worked to help more students meet their educational needs at UNO.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will offer students in and residents of three western Iowa counties the opportunity to attend UNO at significantly reduced tuition rates starting in the fall of 2008 through an initiative called the Metropolitan Advantage Program.
Anyone currently residing in Harrison, Mills or Pottawattamie county, or students who graduate from a school located in one of those counties, who also meet UNO's admission requirements is eligible. Included for eligibility consideration are students of Iowa school districts with high schools that reside in a county other than, but whose district boundaries include areas in, Harrison, Mills or Pottawattamie county, regardless of their county of residence.
Eligible UNO undergraduate and graduate Iowa residents will pay 150 percent of resident tuition.

The new UNO tuition will be close to the rates charged by the University of Iowa, Iowa State and the University of Northern Iowa. With this new initiative, UNO will compete well on the basis of quality, cost and convenience.
This tuition variance is an important strategy to attract nonresident students to UNO and the state of Nebraska, many of whom tend to stay in the area to live and work, according to studies on migration. In offering this opportunity to metropolitan Iowans, UNO's goal is ultimately about improving education levels and increasing economic growth in the greater Omaha area.
Yes. In addition to the new Metropolitan Advantage Program, UNO also will offer Iowa undergraduate students in the three-county area an opportunity to reduce tuition even further through the new Maverick Advantage Scholarship. To qualify for the Maverick Advantage Scholarship, incoming undergraduate students from Iowa must present a 23 or higher ACT score or rank in the top 25 percent of their high school classes. Transfer students must present a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
