On Wednesday, March 1st, Martin Tillman will present a series of talks to faculty, staff, and students linking employability with education abroad and discussing how to maximize that impact.
Tillman's talks are tailored to address the different ways faculty, staff, and students can all contribute to closing the expectation gap between students' experiences and employers' values. How can students better link their education abroad experiences with what employers want?
There is no fee to attend any of the talks, but RSVP to abierwirth@unomaha.edu is requested for staff and faculty sessions.
Academic, career, and peer advisors are invited to attend the morning session in MBSC Nebraska Room, "The Value of Harmonizing the Study Abroad Advising Process."
Abstract:
Education abroad, by itself, does not inherently endow a career advantage. It’s only perceived as advantageous when the student is able to articulate how he or she has used that experience to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities required by an employer. Staff in education abroad and career services can maximize the impact of an EA experience, and its strategic advantages for employability, through their purposeful collaboration in a students’ early decision-making, pre-departure and re-entry process.
Marty Tillman is a nationally recognized expert and thought leader on the impact of education abroad on student career development, and he is the President of Global Career Compass, an international consulting practice focused on global workforce trends.
