Internship Opportunities for AH Students
American Humanics, Inc., has a scholarship program that awards several $1,000 scholarships for each school year. See the American Humanics website for application materials.
Federal Work Study money is now available to pay qualifying students for internship work in select organizations. Please contact the AH director for more information.
Additionally, in January 2007, American Humanics, Inc., began a new Next Generation Nonprofit Leaders (NextGen Leaders) program with the financial support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. This program will, over five years, provide a thousand American Humanics students with $4,500 scholarships to help cover living and educational expenses during an internship with a nonprofit organization. NextGen Leaders are additionally paired with a nonprofit professional mentor for the duration of the internship. Among the 33 awardees for Fall 2007, selected through a national competition judged by academic, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders, was UNO American Humanics student Hanna Wanzenreid, who interned with the Anti-Defamation League. Shelby Buettner and Jamie Gibson, also from UNO, both received funding for Spring 2008. Further information is available from American Humanics, Inc.
After meeting with the AH director, students interested in pursuing AH certification must register through the AH on-line profile system at: http://www.humanics.org/. See On-line Profile Instructions for more information.
