What Can I Do?
While there are many people at this University who like to think big, we realize that some of our goals might be too much for some who are just starting out on their path to sustainability. Contrary to what some might believe, decreasing your impact on the world doesn't require you to completely change the way you live. Changing the world doesn't have to be complicated.
Try changing some of your daily habits with these simple steps:
1.) Try wearing layers instead of adjusting your thermostat.
Turn it down before you leave for the day and at night before you go to bed. This will decrease your energy consumption, which will also save you money.
2.) Not using it? Then turn it off.
You can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by turning off your appliances and electronics.
3.) Walk or bike to campus.
This is an excellent way to get in shape, and you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot.
4.) Use public transportation.
Cut down on the money you spend on gas by utilizing the city transportation.
5.) Carpool:
Try finding a friend that lives close to you, and coordinate your schedules so that you can ride together.
6.) Reduce the amount of paper you use
Print on both sides. Instead of printing numerous copies, edit your paper electronically.
7.) Bring your own mug or thermos to a coffee stand
Reduce the amount of waste produced from paper cups.
