Omaha World-Herald: New $6 million UNO Biomechanics Research Facility Approved

The University of Nebraska at Omaha will erect a new building to house the growing biomechanics research efforts led by UNO Professor Nick Stergiou.

The NU Board of Regents on Friday approved UNO's plan to construct the Biomechanics Research Facility. The entire $6 million cost will come from a private donor, UNO officials told the regents. They did not reveal the donor's name.

The approximately 23,000-square-foot building will rise on what now is mostly open land, southwest of Caniglia Field and near the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building, where Stergiou's laboratories currently are based. Construction is expected to start by June and to be completed by August 2013.
