Nature and STEAM in the Art Museum

On one day we visited the Joslyn Art Museum and connected our activities to what we were doing the rest of the week at Fontenelle Forest.

Participants observed nature thought the lens of art, asking some of the same questions they did in their observation of nature in the forest.

Groups explored the science of dance/movement with Josie Metal-Corbin.

They created a tableau to represent the animal they represented in their sculpture the day before.

They mapped a dance based on the movement of their animal through its habitat.
They created movement based on STEAM words inspired by a work of art.
Participants created found poetry inspired by Jesús Moroles, Omaha Riverscape. They chose words and phrases from bits of articles about water in the news around the world.
