Most of the issues that require campus-wide involvement are now handled through our incident command organization (on emergency response issues) or for general safety issues I work directly with the deans.)

Committee Charge: The charge for the Campus Safety Committee is to implement an injury prevention plan at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. This will include: Prioritizing, creating, and reviewing specific safety policies, Reviewing and making recommendations for training, equipment and other improvements to reduce injury potential and meet regulatory standards, Bringing safety and health issues with multi-department impact for committee review, Reviewing injury/illness data and accident investigations, Reviewing and participating in safety audits, Actively participating on the committee to promote safety and health in each department and throughout the campus.
Membership: The Nebraska Workers Compensation Act as amended by LB 757 requires the establishment of a Safety Committee. Committee membership requires an equal number of members representing management and non-management employees. The Safety Committee at UNO will be comprised of six members representing management recommended by the University Administration, three members representing faculty recommended by the Faculty Senate and three members representing staff recommended by the Staff Advisory Council.
