University Committee on Research and Creative Activity (UCRCA) Contact: Sponsored Programs and Research (554-2286)
Governance: Purpose: Be responsible for encouraging and stimulating campus-wide research efforts; determine procedures for the allocation and distribution of abailable research monies based on criteria designed by the committee. Committee shall make its recommendations for allocation of research monies to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and shall report its deliberations to the chancellor. Membership: Thirteen members, of which which one will be a graduate student (selected by the chancellor) and ten from the graduate faculty (selected by the faculty senate). Eight of these faculty members shall be selected in the following manor: one each from the Colleges of Business Administration, Education, Fine Arts, Information Science & Technology, and Public Affairs & Community Service; and one faculty member representing each of the three divisions of the College of Arts & Sciences. The two remaining members will be selected from the faculty at-large, but in no case shall any college have a majority of members serving on the committee. The Dean of Graduate Studies & Research and the Director of Sponsored Programs & Research shall serve ex-officio, without vote. The committee will select its own chairperson.
