Excellence in Teaching, University Committee on Contact: Chancellor's Office and Deborah Smith-Howell/FACSTAFF/UNO/UNEBR@University of Nebraska
Governance: Purpose: Be responsible for the selection of the recipients of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Excellence in Teaching Award. Committee shall make its recommendations to the chancellor. Membership: Six members appointed by the chancellor, and shall include two recipients of the UNO Excellence in Teaching Award (or the Great Teacher Award), one new (first year, if possible) UNO faculty member holding the Ph.D. degree, two faculty to remedy any imbalances of college representation on the committee, and one junior student (to be selected for the following year) with outstanding academic credentials. University Committee on Excellence in Teaching: BE IT RESOLVED, that the following faculty be recommended for service as three-year appointments, from 08/01/2005 through 07/31/2008, on the University Committee on Excellence in Teaching. (Two members should be recipients of the award and one member should be ''first year faculty member holding a Ph.D.") These members will serve staggered terms, and their replacements will be appointed to serve terms that would balance term endings, except for the first year faculty member, who serves one year.

Resolution 2721, 02/11/04: Regarding University Committee on Excellence in Teaching BE IT RESOLVED, that the following faculty be recommended for service on the University Committee on Excellence in Teaching. (Two members should be recipients of the award and one member should be ''first year faculty member holding a Ph.D.") These members will serve staggered terms, and their replacements will be appointed to serve terms that would balance term endings, except for the first year faculty member, who serves one year.
Resolution 2595, 09/12/01: Committee on Rules BE IT RESOLVED, that Cassia Spohn be recommended for serviceon the University Committee on Excellence in Teaching to serve a three-year term from August 1, 2001, through July 31, 2004, replacing Philip Secret (PACS, 08/01/98 to 07/31/01) who was appointed by the chancellor prior to the Faculty Senate taking over the appointment of all faculty members. Resolution 2527 12/13/00: Committee on Rules BE IT RESOLVED, that the following faculty be recommended for service on the University Committee on Excellence in Teaching to serve three-year terms from November 8, 2000, through July 31, 2003. Two members should be recipients of the award and one member should be untenured, if possible. This is also the first time the new position of first year faculty member holding a Ph.D.' is added as charged by the chancellor's Task Force on University Committees (Committee on Committees). Continuing committee members are Andrew Smallwood (A&S, 08/01/97 to 07/31/00) and Philip Secret (PACS, 08/01/98 to 07/31/01) both of whom were appointed by the chancellor prior to this responsibility being turned over to the faculty senate.
