Recycling

The University of Nebraska at Omaha actively participates in projects and programs that foster practices which reduce, reuse, and recycle materials.

Program objectives:

(1) Insure the University community is aware of the importance of the environment and daily recycling practices through individual participation.

(2) Maintain recycling and environmental timetables established by Federal, State, and Local Municipal governments for program refinements.

(3) Reduce the amount of un-recycled and un-used waste produced by the University community.

The recycling program is managed and operated by Environmental and Landscape Services. The campus recycles mixed-paper, cardboard, metals, ink toners and copier cartridges, batteries, petroleum products, plastics, and stand-alone items unique to some departmental activates.

In partnership with Weyerhaeuser Recycling, participants recycle through an "All-Office Mixed Paper Program." This program includes the recycling of: books; hard or soft cover, brown paper tape, corrugated cardboard, cardstock, computer printouts, manila file folders, keypunch cards, window; labeled and Kraft envelopes, glue pads and tablets, magazines, newspapers, telephone books, post-it-notes, onionskin, carbonless or NCR, shiny coated, ledger, colored paper, white paper, and spiral notebooks with the attached metal.

Office suites are provided a twenty (20) gallon blue metal recycling container by Environmental and Landscape Services for the office suite central collection point.
