Engagement Links

What are Engagement Links?

Modeled after UNO’s successful Teaching Circles and Research Triangles, Engagement Links are small groups of faculty and staff who make a commitment to work together over a period of time to address questions, concerns, and topics related to developing and maintaining successful community and professional partnerships.

What is the purpose of Engagement Links?

To provide an opportunity and support for faculty and staff to discuss and implement strategies for successful community and professional partnerships and fulfill UNO’s mission as Nebraska’s metropolitan university and our three strategic goals: Student-Centeredness; Academic Excellence; and Community Engagement.

Why join an Engagement Link?

  • To interact with colleagues from across the campus.
  • To exchange ideas and strategies for successful engagement practices in an informal, collaborative setting.
  • To learn how to incorporate and integrate the scholarship of engagement into Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure portfolios and annual reviews.
  • To obtain a professional development grant.
  • To improve the quality of our community and professional partnerships, develop and expand partnerships, support the scholarship of engagement, and develop external funding.

How to participate?

  • For this first year, topics for Links will be generated at the Strategic Planning Forum on February 15, 2008.
  • Members of the UNO Strategic Planning Steering Committee and the Center for Faculty Development will help organize initial meetings.
  • Faculty and staff will be able to sign up for groups through the Center for Faculty Development website, by email, and phone calls.
  • After the initial organization, we anticipate that Engagement Links will self-organize similar to Teaching Circles and Research Triangles.
  • By April of each year, each group will submit a brief final report describing the meetings, outcomes and process of the collaboration, as well as listing the active participants in the Engagment Link. After submission of the final report, funds will be transferred to the active participant's department/school cost center account.
