The Chancellor's Medal at the University of Nebraska at Omaha was established to recognize the contribution of faculty and administrative staff who embody the institution's mission and values. It is bestowed only to those within the university community who have demonstrated unusual excellence.
The mentoring award, presented by the UNO Office of Graduate Studies, was created to recognize individual faculty who place a high value on and excel in mentoring graduate students.
The Faculty Service-Learning Award recognizes a faculty member, either full- or part-time, who has experience with a service-learning course, who has been supportive of service-learning at UNO (through faculty-student presentations, teaching circles, mentoring faculty-students, and so on), and who has a thorough understanding and appreciation of community agency issues (i.e., professionalism and cultural competency).
This honor recognizes individuals or teams at UNO who have make an extraordinary contribution to the campus, by taking on a special project, working on an ad hoc task force or assignment or simply going beyond normal expectations in the course of your normal work.
These awards provide an innovative way to recognize and encourage continued diversity efforts by UNO faculty, staff and students. The awards recognize current UNO faculty, staff and students who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity on the university campus or in the community through mentoring, outreach initiatives or other activities that advance the institution's goal of inclusion. Three awards are given out each year, one to faculty, one to staff and one to a student.
