Civic Participation Minigrants

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs is pleased to invite Civic Participation Project minigrant proposals that address UNO’s goals of civic engagement / civic participation. Successful proposals will be funded for projects consistent with the goals of UNO’s Civic Participation Project (an AQIP initiative) and the American Democracy Project, an initiative jointly sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). Successful awardees will receive up to $1500 per grant. Proposals are due by September, 28, 2007. Please note that conference travel will not be funded by these grants – there is a separate funding source to encourage travel that supports civic participation goals. Recipients of funding will be notified by October 5, 2007.

Proposals should be no more than two pages (including budget) and contain the following information:

• Purpose of project
• Potential student-learning outcomes consistent with Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) campus accreditation categories: 1) Helping Students Learn; 3) Understanding Students’ and Other Stakeholders’ Needs; 4) Valuing People; 5) Leading and Communicating; 7) Measuring Effectiveness; 8) Planning Continuous Improvement; and 9) Building Collaboration Relationships. • Nature of student involvement
• Alignment with UNO Strategic Plan
• Budget outlining planned expenses

By accepting funding, applicants are expected to submit a final report detailing the outcomes of the project and be willing to participate in a campus discussion related to their work.
