This is the time of year faculty start placing book orders. For those of you interested in using classroom response systems, or “clickers,” please note that UNO Information Technology Services (ITS) and the UNO Bookstore have standardized on eInstruction clickers. While instructors can order any clicker system, tech support from ITS is limited to eInstruction systems, and the UNO Bookstore will only buy back eInstruction clickers at this time. Please keep this in mind as you negotiate with book vendors and plan for courses.
The standardization agreement with eInstruction lowers clicker prices for UNO students and allows the UNO Bookstore to buy back clickers. As part of the agreement, eInstruction also provides a free test kit, which includes a receiver and clicker, to every UNO instructor who adopts eInstruction clickers for classroom use. The UNO Bookstore will provide a test kit request form to instructors who order clickers.
ITS held a clicker brown bag on Friday, April 13th which featured a demo of the eInstruction clickers and an overview of clicker support at UNO. Here are the documents associated with that event:
Additional clicker session will be presented at the Learning Horizon Conference in May. Hands-on workshops will be scheduled later in the semester and the summer based on the number of instructors who adopt clickers. Instructors wanting additional information about using clickers may contact ITS Customer Services at 4-HELP (4-4357) Instructors wanting specific information about ordering and pricing, regardless of vendor, may contact Scott Dickey (4-2541).
