UNO’s EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative Membership & Spring 2006 Web Seminars

As an EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) member, the UNO community has access to ELI documents and events. ELI is an EDUCAUSE initiative focused on the advancement of teaching, learning, and technology. The EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) is a community of higher education institutions and organizations committed to advancing learning through IT innovation.

Our mission is to help institutions advance learning through IT innovation. To achieve that mission, we have adopted a strategic focus on learners and successful learning. Why? Effectively using IT to improve learning requires a solid understanding of learners and how they learn.

Based on our mission and focus, ELI explores three primary areas:

  • Learners
  • Learning Principles and Practices
  • Learning Technologies

By understanding learners and learning principles-and how to use technology to appropriately support them-institutions can ensure successful learning. Our focus is not just on technology, but on the learning IT can enable. We stress the role of technology in service to learning.

ELI presents monthly web seminars which are screened live in the MBSC. Past seminars can be viewed on the ELI website. Exact times for seminars are not provided in advance, so please watch the FacConnect calendar for updates.

Sheri Rogers, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs said that the reason why we chose to join was because, “ELI gives us the opportunity to dialogue with faculty and higher education institutions that are on the cutting edge of technology used to support student learning. Specifically we are able to share and discuss information about new technologies' (blogs, wikis, clickers etc.) positive and negative impact on learning.”

ELI also invites you to view Introducing the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) to learn more about what our membership has to offer. As a member, the UNO community has access to ELI documents and events. Please take advantage of all the membership has to offer. First time users are required to create a profile.
