August 29, 2009 Fashion Show raises $8000 for MADD

A message from Amy Wieczorek, a member of Eta Sigma Gamma: "Two years ago my best friend, Morgan Hohnbaum was killed by a drunk driver (along with her boyfriend Josh Milana). Burying her was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was even more difficult for her parents.

When she was killed her parents had to drive almost 2 hours to use Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) services. I wanted to raise money to bring more services to Omaha and benefit MADD Nebraska as a whole. It's a scary thought that there are more drunk driving fatalities in Omaha than homicides. Omaha has a huge drinking and driving problem and you can help...seriously!"

Amy is a fashion model and a community health major. In organizing this event she used both of these skills to raise awareness and funds for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Besides Eta Sigma Gamma and MADD Nebraska, event sponsors included: Nebraska Grocery Industry Association, O'Hara Plumbing, 7 Day Furniture, HyVee, No Frills, Valley City Police Department, Shazam Inc., Rightway Inc., DW Enterprises, Nash Finch, Stereo West, Grisanti's, Bag N Save, Best Buy, Runza Restaurants, JD Photography, L.O.S. Entertainment, JC Penney Salon, and Sirens Salon.

All donations were made in memory of

Morgan Hohnbaum (1988-2007) and given to MADD Nebraska.
