
All Environmental Studies majors are required to take the same core of courses selected to provide the breadth of understanding they will need to work in the multidisciplinary field of environmental science. Some of the courses in the core curriculum may be used to fulfill divisional requirements. Some of the Core Curriculum requirements can be fulfilled by several options. Students are encouraged discuss theses options with their advisor.
Biology 1330 Environmental Biology (not required for Life Sciences Concentration)
Chemistry 1010/1014 Chemistry in the Environment and Society with lab (not required for Analytic or Physics Options)
Geology 1010 Environmental Geology
An approved course in Geography
Geog 1030 Introduction to Earth and Environmental Science
Geog 1060 Physical Geography: Climate and Waters
Geog 1070 Physical Geography: Soils and Landforms
All options require at least one approved course in Physics.
Economics 2200 Principles of Economics (Micro)
An approved course in public policy, such as:

PA 2170 Introduction to Public Administration
Econ 3320 Introduction to Environmental and Natural Resources Economics
Econ 4320 Natural Resources Economics
Biol 4820/Geog 4820 Introduction to Environmental Law and Regulations
An approved course in statistics
An approved course in ethics, such as:
Phil 3180 Environmental Ethics
Phil 2030 Introduction to Ethics
An approved course in social change, such as:
Soc 3840 World Population and Social Issues
Soc 3850 Society, Environment, and Resource Conservation
Biol/Geog/Geol 4610 Environmental Field Methods
Biol/Geog/Geol 4800 or Chem 4810 Internship
