They are intended to provide relevant, useful news and information about the UNO campus and community. The content is provided by and for the UNO community.

Below are guidelines regarding submitting items for The Maverick.

Maverick Daily: A Daily Digest for Faculty & Staff (formerly known as "eNotes")

All submissions should be emailed to maverickdaily@unomaha.edu and should:
- be submitted three days in advance of the first desired publication date.
- be sponsored by a UNO department, program or organization.
- have a direct connection to the university or university faculty, staff, administrator, student or alumni.

Maverick Weekly: A Weekly Digest for Students
The Maverick Weekly will be delivered every Monday. We request submissions be received no later than the Thursday prior to desired delivery date. Submissions can be emailed to maverickweekly@unomaha.edu.

All submissions should:
- be sponsored by a UNO department, program or organization.
- have a direct connection to the university or university faculty, staff, administrator, student or alumni.

Items that will not be promoted via The Maverick Daily or Weekly:
- Personal social media accounts, personal blogs, personal websites or related media
- Individual classes (this excludes professional development workshops)
- Job candidate resumes

Also, we encourage high resolution pictures to be sent along with your submission(s)! Please note: the editor reserves the right to use the photos.

If you have any questions regarding The Maverick, formerly eNotes, please email snmontgomery@unomaha.edu.

About the rebranding of eNotes
eNotes is the University of Nebraska Omaha's electronic newsletter, accessible via our website or sent directly to your email inbox. eNotes provides timely articles, events, and tips to help keep you connected to the campus community.

In the new year you will notice significant updates to eNotes. Most notably-- the design. The newsletter will now come to you packaged in a UNO-branded layout and will feature photos. This allows us to more fully tell the UNO story while connecting you directly to our university News Center online.

The other change you will see is the name. We surveyed campus this fall and the most popular choice for eNotes' new name was "The Maverick."

Faculty and staff subscribers will continue to receive their daily newsletter, but it will be called "The Maverick Daily." Once a week, students will receive an updated version all their own called "The Maverick Weekly."

You will still be able to access these versions online, and you can still submit entries.

We will keep you informed with sneak peeks and updates along the way!

Food Services Changes

Faculty, staff and students may notice some changes in the campus food operations at the Milo Bail Student Center Food Court, the Library Cafe and the HPER MavRec Cafe.

First, due to changes in Nebraska Regulations, and at the direction of University General Counsel, UNO will begin charging seven percent sales tax on food served on campus (5.5 percent state and 1.5 percent city). UNO is exempt from the City of Omaha Restaurant Occupation Tax.

Second, we value the support and business from the campus community and we have taken the opportunity, as a result of comparisons to our market competition, to make price reductions on many of our most popular menu items.

The MBSC Food Court plans to offer even more daily specials in 2014, including the cheeseburger special on Wednesdays and the macaroni & cheese bar on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To keep updated on these and other specials, follow UNO Food Services on Twitter @MiloBailSC or friend Milo Bail on Facebook.

Finally, want to know how you can get 10 percent off the cost of your purchases at UNO Food Services venues? Simply use your MavCard. ALL PURCHASES made with your MavCard get a 10 percent discount, every day, in the MBSC Food Court, the Library Cafe, the HPER MavRec Cafe and the MBSC Convenience Store.

If you have any questions on this announcement, or any other matter involving UNO Food Services, please contact Jim Welch at jwelch@unomaha.edu.

Inspirational Speaker Reon Schutte to stop at UNO | Jan. 21

Reon Schutte, the inspirational speaker and author of the book Set Yourself Free, will speak at UNO on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the MBSC Nebraska/Aksarben Rooms.

The entire campus community is invited to hear Reon Schutte share his compelling account of 13 years as a prisoner of war in Zimbabwe’s infamously brutal Chikurubi prison. Hear how this incredible individual liberated his mind to be free of the atrocious physical abuse that his body endured. Reon reminds us that we can make a choice to either endure and accept our circumstances or set ourselves free by reshaping our perspective and expectations.

Mark your calendars today and plan to attend this inspirational presentation.

The Center for Faculty Development and the Office of Student Affairs are cosponsoring this presentation.
