Best of 2013: UNO Alumni Association Celebrates 100 Years, Donates Maverick Monument to UNO

It was a special year for UNO in 2013 with countless events, achievements, special guest visits and national recognitions for students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Hundreds of guests helped the UNO Alumni Association celebrate its 100-year anniversary on Friday, Nov. 8. As part of their 100 year celebration, the Alumni Association plans to donate the Maverick Monument, an "8-foot-high, 1,500-pound bronze bull symbolizing the determination, pride and success of UNO students and alumni and the opportunities before them."

December 26, 1974: UNO Chancellor Ron Roskens and 193 others, including students, faculty ans staff, leave Omaha for a 10-day tour of the Soviet Union.

Open Parking & Shuttle Bus Schedule for Holiday Closedown/New Year

During the holiday closedown and the New Year start-up (Dec. 16 through Jan. 10), there will be open parking on campus. See below for more information regarding the open parking and shuttle bus schedule.

Holiday Closedown, Dec. 23 through Jan. 1:
- No parking permits will be required and the East Parking Garage will be open.
- Free parking at the meters. Visitors, faculty, staff and students allowed to park at meters.
- Parking in Reserved or Handicap Stalls (unless displaying a valid Handicap Permit), drive aisles and fire lanes is not allowed.
- Loading Zone time limit is not enforced.

Jan. 2 through Jan. 10, University offices open, no classes scheduled:
- No parking permits will be required and the East Parking Garage will be open.
- Pay to park at the meters will be limited to visitors only from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Faculty, staff and student parking at the meters during this time is not allowed.
- Parking in Reserved or Handicap Stalls (unless displaying a valid Handicap Permit), drive aisles and fire lanes is not allowed.
- Loading Zone time limit is enforced.

Campus Shuttle Bus Service revised

Holiday closedown, Dec. 23 through Jan. 1:
- No Shuttle Bus Service.

Jan. 2 through Jan. 10, University offices open, no classes scheduled:
- Pacific to Dodge Shuttle will operate on a limited basis from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Crossroads to Dodge Shuttle will not operate.

REMINDER: UNO Online Services Unavailable on Dec. 27, Dec. 29

On Friday, Dec. 27, from 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. and Dec. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon, most UNO online services will be unavailable due to the upgrade of the campus border routers. UNO's border routers are used to connect the UNO campus to the rest of the internet. This upgrade will provide improved network stability and allow for future internet speed upgrades.

Services that will be off-line include:

- Office 365-- Email will still be received and will be available after the border routers come back online. During this outage you will be unable to login to your email.
- gMav-- Login for all google apps for education services including gMav student email, Google Drive, Google Sites etc. Email will still be received and will be available after the border routers come back online.
- Mavlink
- Blackboard
- WEPA printing services
- Weboffice (O Drive)
- Mavsync
- VPN Connection to the internet from the wired and wireless networks on campus
- Portions of the website may not function including college, department and organization websites that do not currently reside in the CMS (Content Management System)
- All other services that require a NetID to login
