UNO Community Engagement Center RFP Release | Due Dec. 2

The UNO CEC has released a second RFP. Applications are now available on the CEC website. The current application due date for potential partnership space is Dec. 2.

Organizations seeking community partner space will need to complete a two-phased application process. First, a written application will be required followed by an interview between the applicant organization's leadership and the CEC partner selection subcommittee in January of 2014. Community organizations (non-profit organizations, community collaborations, government initiatives, etc.) should complete the "external application" and university-based organizations (e.g., UNO colleges, departments, or student organizations) should complete the "internal application." Successful applications will reflect a high level of commitment to collaboration, reciprocity, communication and a sense of community, and diversity.

The CEC partner selection subcommittee has both community and campus representation. Subcommittee recommendations will be submitted to the Sr. Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (or his designee) for final approval. Decisions for partners will be announced in late January, 2014. After this initial application process, there will be a rolling deadline for applications throughout the year. Please contact Sara Woods at swoods@unomaha.edu for more information.

Campus Security Offers Holiday Safety Tips

The Campus Security staff would like to remind the campus community of some common sense safety tips to practice during the holiday season.

- When a person leaves his or her room or office, lock it up, even if it's only for a few minutes.
- Avoid leaving valuables or packages in plain view in a vehicle. Place them in the trunk or between the seats. When possible, do so before parking.
- During the holiday break, take valuables home from campus offices and residence halls.
- Anyone who is going to be working on campus late in the evening or when few people are around should consider advising Campus Security so that an officer can pay special attention to the area.
- Anyone entering a locked residence hall or campus building should make sure the door closes completely. Strangers should not follow anyone into a secure building.
- Students who live on campus and are leaving town for the holidays should make sure they have someone keeping an eye on their residence and leave emergency contact information.

For more information, call Campus Security at 402.554.2648.
