UNO Community Engagement Center Accepting Proposal for Space Requests: Due Aug. 31

We are pleased to announce the release of the first round of request for proposals for university and community partner space in the UNO Community Engagement Center (CEC). Opening in the early spring of 2014, the CEC will serve as both the front door to the campus and as the university's signature outreach venue. In addition to housing the campus' nationally recognized Service Learning Academy and rapidly growing student volunteer/community service enterprise, the CEC will offer more than 12,000 square feet of collaborative, state-of-the-art office space for both community-based and university organizations. Organizations housed in the CEC will share a commitment to improve our community through cooperative programming, reciprocity, commitment to diversity, open communication, and collective and individual impact.

Application forms are available through the UNO CEC website. The website contains other information, including the CEC's mission and values, furniture and building design, and FAQs. We are accepting applications from both community organizations (including nonprofit and grassroots organizations, government entities, education, social entrepreneurs, collaborations, etc.) as well as UNO-based initiatives (emanating from colleges, departments, student organizations, campus collaborations, volunteer organizations, etc.). UNO-based organizations should complete the “internal” application; community-based organizations should complete the “external" application.

Applications for this round must be emailed to UNO at unocec@unomaha.edu no later than Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. There will be additional calls for applications in November 2013 and February 2014.
