UNO Seeks Entries for Triathlon August 24
The Omaha swimming & diving team will host its annual Methodist Hospital/UNO Women's Triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Wehrspann Lake/Chalco Hills Recreation Area. This is the 21st year of the event which raises money for team travel expenses.
Female athletes of all abilities are invited to take part in the event which begins at 8 a.m. It includes a swim, bike and a walk/run throughout the Chalco Hills Recreation Area. The entry fee is $20 while late and race-day registration is $30. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. with a mandatory event meeting at 7:50 a.m. prior to the start.
All registrations before Aug. 14 will receive a t-shirt at check-in while those who register later will have their t-shirts mailed to them.

Special Needs Camp Visits UNO
A special needs camp for children who are deaf and/or blind took some time on Thursday, July 25, to utilize the HPER rock climbing wall. WOWT was on hand for the experience.
UNO Key to Helping Teach Military, Civilian Workers in Afghanistan
On Thursday, July 25, a story about UNO's regularly-held Afghanistan Immersion Seminar, which graduates its 41st class today, was covered by WOWT. UNO has offered the seminar since 2008 and graduated over 600 participants.
Gouttierre on 1620 The Zone
On Thursday, July 25, Tom Gouttierre, dean of UNO's International Studies and Programs, was a guest on "Sharpe and Benning in the Morning" on 1620 AM. Gouttierre was on the program to discuss his recent feature in Sports Illustrated about his time as head coach of Afghanistan's national basketball team.
24th Annual Nebraska Data Users Conference August 13 at UNO
The UNO Center for Public Affairs Research will be holding its annual conference Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the CPACS building and by webcast.
This conference focuses on economic and population data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Labor Departments. Highlighted this year will be information on health insurance, how Nebraska’s metro and nonmetro areas differ, hands-on computer training of web applications, and Nebraska’s population trends.

Plan for Fall with The New York Times
Faculty using The New York Times as required reading in their classes are eligible for free home delivery beginning in August, which also includes online and app-based access. Stipends are available for faculty members interested in working with the Newspapers in Curricula (NiC) group, which encourages incorporation of the newspaper in courses and sponsors current events discussions on campus.
