NE Department of Labor to Offer Resume Assistance July 8
Representatives from the Nebraska Department of Labor will be at the Military and Veteran University Service Office (MaV USO) Monday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help military and veteran students beef up their resumes and assist with job searches.
Please stop by the office, located in 117 EAB, and take advantage of this great resource.
The Nebraska Department of Labor will be at UNO every Monday.

API Offering Screen Capture Basics Training Workshop July 12
The Academic Partnership for Instruction (API), a division of Information Services (IS), will be holding a new training workshop on Screen Capture Basics on Friday, July 12, from 9-11 a.m. in Kayser Hall, room 543.
Through the use of screen capture programs, instructors can easily disseminate class resources while catering to students of multiple learning styles.
Screen capture tools can be used to: Create tutorials and step-by-step video demonstrations; allow students to demonstrate their work or problems; provide student feedback by augmenting textual corrections with speech or drawings; and
create more engaging presentations.
In this hands-on session, attendees will learn not only how to use a free screen capture program, Wink, but will gain a deeper understanding of the pedagogical advantages to using such technology.
Participants are invited to bring content with them to aid in the creation of a sample demonstration. All faculty and staff are welcome, but space is limited to the first 10 registrants, so please register early.

UNO, Criss Library Closed July Fourth in Observance of Independence Day
UNO, along with the Criss Library, will be closed Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Normal business hours will resume Friday, July 5.

Teaching and Technology Center Closed July 1-8
The Teaching and Technology Center, located in Kayser Hall room 538, will be closed from July 1-8. For assistance during that time please contact the Information Services Help Desk, located in the Eppley Administration Building room 104, at 402.554.4357.
Lots D and E Closed for Construction July 8-August 15
Lots D and E, located between the Strauss Performing Arts Center and the Criss Library, will be closed for construction from July 8 to August 15.
These lots will be modified for visitor and special event use.
Starting on July 8 through August 25, the following temporary changes will be made to parking enforcement:
-Surface lots on Dodge and Pacific Campuses will be open for all permits.
-Vehicles must park in white striped stalls.
-No parking is allowed in drive aisles, fire lanes and cross-hatched areas.
-Reserve and Handicap parking is limited to authorized vehicles only.
-All valid permits, including Garage Only permits, will be accepted to park in surface lots, except metered stalls.
-Vehicles without valid permits will be subject to ticketing.
-The East Parking Garage, behind Arts and Sciences Hall, will provide open parking.
-All three levels (Lots T, U and V) will be available for faculty, staff, student and visitor parking with no permit required.
Visitor Only pay parking will continue to be enforced at the meters from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
On Monday, August 26, which is the start of the fall semester, new 2013–2014 parking permits must be displayed and standard parking regulations will be enforced.

On Tuesday, July 2, the Omaha World-Herald included a feature on a new IT Internship program that allows high school students to learn college-level skills in areas like robotics, computer programming and music technology.
Decker Talks Health Care Jobs
On Tuesday, July 2, Chris Decker, professor of economics talked with the Omaha World-Herald on the topic of health care jobs in the Omaha area. Decker says the industry provides economic stability in Omaha due to the large number of jobs available here and the potential for similar types of jobs being available in the future.

On Monday, July 1, KOLN/KGIN TV provided a preview of Thursday's "Let Freedom Ring" carillon concert, which will take place on the UNO campus at 9 a.m.
UNO to Host Annual 'Let Freedom Ring' Bell Tower Concert July 4
An Omaha landmark that stands tall among the city's skyline will stand tall in honor of America on Thursday, July 4, as UNO hosts the 24th Annual "Let Freedom Ring" carillon concert.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Independence Day, UNO's Henningson Memorial Campanile's 47 bronze bells will chime with classic patriotic songs, and some modern favorites, performed by carillonneur Brent Shaw.
