Bank of the West Concert Tonight
The annual "Bank of the West Celebrates America" concert takes place tonight, June 28, at Memorial Park from 6-10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and UNO will again provide free parking.
This year's entertainment includes Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and Loverboy. A fireworks grand finale will follow the performances at 10 p.m.
Be aware that campus parking usually fills by 7 p.m. In addition to surface parking lots, UNO's multi-level parking garage (University Drive East Parking Structure) will be open after 4 p.m. Event organizers encourage those who park on campus to use the pedestrian overpass when crossing Dodge Street. Shuttle service between the UNO Dodge and Pacific campuses stops at 6 p.m. during the summer. Please note: people who park on the Pacific Campus for the concert will not be able to take the shuttle back to their cars after 6 p.m.
Bank of the West, in cooperation with the city of Omaha, annually sponsors the outdoor concert and fireworks finale. For more information, visit the concert website.
Teaching and Technology Center Closed July 1-8

A feature in the Omaha World-Herald on Thursday, June 27, profiled the popular "Defy Gravity" shows held in Omaha. The parties are organized, in part, by UNO alumnus and former member of UNO's men's tennis team James Fonda.
Lipschultz Talks Email Privacy on Huffington Post
On Thursday, June 27, Jeremy Lipschultz, professor of communication, provided a guest entry on the Huffington Post blog on the topic of privacy and email. Lipschultz argues that many of the tools we use to enjoy social media can be used to disrupt our email privacy – a fact shown in recent revelations on secret NSA programs run by the U.S. government.
Drozd Quoted on Rising Hispanic Numbers in Columbus
On Sunday, June 16, David Drozd, research coordinator for UNO's Center for Public Affairs Research, was quoted in the Columbus Telegram. The topic was the growing number of Hispanic citizens in Platte County. The number recently topped 5,000 for the first time.
