System Changes to Vacation Leave Accruals

The University of Nebraska has limited the accrual of vacation leave, based on a cap of 280 hours, since 2007. As the system currently records vacation accrual, if your accrual balance is less than 280 hours you receive a full month's vacation accrual; typically 16 hours for many employees. This allowed those with balances less than 280 hours to earn a full accrual and actually reach a leave balance greater than the 280 hours allowed by University policy.

Effective with the month of July 2013, system changes are being implemented that will correct this situation and will not allow an accumulated balance of greater than 280 hours. This means that if your balance is 278 hours you will now earn two (2) additional hours, not 16.

Those who have vacation leave balances in excess of 264 hours will receive a reminder email at the beginning of each month. If you are in a situation where you might not receive a full month's vacation accrual, you have until the end of that month to use additional vacation leave if desired and receive your full accrual.

No existing vacation leave balances will be reduced; this change only affects the ability to earn additional vacation leave.

If you have questions, please contact UNO Human Resources.

UNO Website Content Management System (CMS) Vendor Campus Forum June 7

Do you update a UNO website? If yes, this is for you.

You've seen the new pages of our website, here's your chance to learn about the two potential content management systems (CMS) that you may be using in the future to update your university website(s)! The CMS product that is selected will replace Dreamweaver, UNO's current CMS.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the second of two CMS vendor forums on Friday, June 7, from 2 to 3 p.m. in Room 101 in the College of Community, Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS). Feedback during the forum is welcome and encouraged. We will be providing a survey for those that attend.

Hannon Hill was on campus Wednesday, June 5, and OmniUpdate will be on campus June 7.

These two CMS vendor candidates were selected based upon their responses to UNO's request for information (RFI), and the systems and services they offer. Ultimately, one vendor will be selected for future use by UNO.

The Website team is planning to host two walk-in computer lab sessions the week of June 10. This will give the campus additional hands-on experience with the systems.
