Salvation Army Back-to-School Backpack Drive Through May 24
In the past, UNO engaged in a friendly competition with Creighton University and College of Saint Mary in an effort to support the Salvation Army's Back-to-School Backpack Program. This year, the schools won't compete but rather work together as a Collegiate Coalition.
Other members of the coalition include the University of Nebraska Medical Center and its College of Nursing, and Bellevue University. Methodist Hospital is sponsoring the event. Each member will be collecting a single school supply for students in Omaha. Team UNO will be lead by the Staff Advisory Council (SAC).
UNO's goal is to collect 2,000 rulers between now and May 24.
Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are encouraged to purchase rulers at the UNO Bookstore, located on the first floor of the Milo Bail Student Center.
The UNO Bookstore is selling three rulers for $1 and donations of rulers purchased off campus will also be accepted at the UNO Bookstore.
All of the donated items between the coalition members will be handed out to students at the start of the school year in August of this year.
