Fanart: Works of Media Appreciation
The work of artist Chris Knudtson will be on display in the Criss Library's Osborne Family Gallery beginning Friday, May 10. Knudtson's work draws entirely from popular culture and features mosaics, paintings and scale models from famous movies, television shows and video games. Knudtson's work will be on display in the Criss Library, during regular library hours, until June 21.
World-Renowned Philosopher, Omaha Native the Focus of UNO Conference
The work of philosopher Saul Kripke, an Omaha native and professor emeritus at Princeton University, will be the subject of a three-day conference held at UNO which begins today, May 20, and runs through 22.
The conference, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Mammel Hall, 6708 Pine St., on UNO's Pacific Campus. Events run from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m. each day, and will include a keynote lecture from Kripke on Wednesday, May 22, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. to close out the conference. Read more.Up to Top
Flexible Spending Account Claim Announcement
Today, May 20, is the last day to submit Flexible Spending Account claims to UNO Human Resources (205 EAB).
All claims to be processed before the change to our new FSA Vendor, Wage Works, must be submitted to the Human Resources office by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20.
After this date, there will be a hold on all claims until June 5, when Wage Works will begin accepting claims for Health Care or Dependent Day Care reimbursement.

Registration Due Today for Young Entrepreneur Bootcamp
In collaboration with the UNO College of Business Administration, the Nebraska Business Development Center is offering a Young Entrepreneur Bootcamp designed for high school freshmen and sophomores.
The event will be held Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please visit this link to download a brochure with details. Scholarships are available for students to attend the event for free.
In order to receive the scholarship, registrants must:
-Complete the registration form (on the back of the brochure)
-Obtain a letter of recommendation from a business teacher
-Mail the completed registration form and letter of recommendation to the address shown on the form

Knopp Essay Collection Earns Honorable Mention by ASLE
Congratulations to Lisa Knopp, associate professor of English, whose essay collection "What the River Carries" earned Honorable Mention for the 2013 Environmental Creative Writing Award, given by the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment (ASLE).
This is a very competitive national award, with only three authors being chosen as finalists. She will be recognized at the upcoming ASLE conference hosted by the University of Kansas.Up to Top
"My Fitness Pal" App Tutorial and Success Story May 22
Shane Wurdeman, in the UNO Biomechanics department, has used the "My Fitness Pal" app to lose weight and get healthy. Christensen Discusses Summit League
On Friday, May 17, the Omaha World-Herald published an interview with Chancellor John Christensen about the stability of the Summit League and the future of Maverick Athletics. Christensen spoke on these issues Thursday, May 16, at an event at the Omaha Press Club.
Gilbert Profiled by Jewish Press
Dan Gilbert, assistant to the Sr. Vice Chancellor, was profiled as the recipient of a 2012 Young Leadership Award from Omaha's Jewish community. Gilbert will receive the award at the Jewish Federation Omaha Annual Meeting on Monday, June 3.
UNO Baseball Earns Summit League Title
In its first full season of Summit League play, the UNO men's baseball team has won the league's regular season championship.
Clinkinbeard on Consider This
Samantha Clinkinbeard, assistant professor of criminal justice, was recently featured as a guest on Consider This, a public affairs show on the TKN Network, which is filmed on the UNO campus. Clinkinbeard discussed the topic of kidnapping in light of the recent discovery of three kidnapped women in Cleveland. The program ill aired Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17.
Alumni Association Recognized
The UNO Alumni Association was recognized in the Midlands Business Journal's May 10 issue for its centennial celebration this year. The UNO Alumni Association was founded by the Omaha University graduating class of 1913.
World-Herald Recognizes UNO Grad's Scottish Rite Sculpture
On the Thursday, May 16, issue of the Omaha World-Herald a brief mention was made for the dedication of a sculpture outside of Omaha's Scottish Rite Masonic Center. The sculpture was designed by a recent UNO grad under the supervision of David Helm, professor of art and art history, and Bob Carlson, chair of the Department of Art and Art History at UNO.

UNO now has up-to-date campus maps. The maps are for the UNO Dodge and Pacific campuses. These maps also include updated official building names and abbreviations. The maps can be found on the UNO Maps web site by visiting www.unomaha.edu/maps and then scrolling down to the title/links: Dodge Campus Map and Pacific Campus Map.
UNO strongly encourages the use of these maps in all publications, materials, brochures, invitations, web sites, etc. to have a consistent and accurate map to share with the community including our students and visitors.

Online Survey By UNO Geography, Geology Aims to Study Omaha Residency Motivations
