Spring Permit Sales Begin Today

Permits for Spring/Summer 2013 officially go on sale today, Dec. 10. At that time, all annual permits will be half price, including East and West Garage.

Please check the expiration date of your existing permit. If it expires on Dec. 31, 2012, and you plan to park on campus during the Spring Semester, you will need to purchase a new permit. If it expires on Aug.15, 2013, you will not need to purchase another permit.

All permits are required to be purchased online at Permits must be picked up at the Parking Office, 107 Eppley Administration Building, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You must present your MavCard to pick up permit. Online purchasing requires NetID, username and password; vehicle information for all vehicles that will be parked on campus.  Information includes the vehicle's year, make, model, color, and license plate number.

If your permit has expired, or you no longer need/use it, please make sure you turn it back in to Parking Services or you destroy it. This avoids your permit falling into the hands of someone else who may use the permit on campus and collect tickets under your account.

Criss Library Extends Hours for Finals Week

Criss Library is piloting extended hours for prep and finals week this semester. "We are pleased to offer students this additional time," said Steve Shorb, dean of Libraries. The library will stay open until 2 a.m. Monday through Wednesday during finals week to allow UNO students additional research and study hours.

Extended library dates are:

- Today through Wednesday, Dec. 10-12: 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Textbook Buyback and Textbook Rental Continues

Textbook Buyback and Textbook Rental Returns will be held through Saturday, Dec. 15. A valid picture ID is required. Please bring all DVD's, CD's and supplemental materials purchased with your textbooks.

Estimated buyback prices can be checked online at; click on "Cash for Books."

- Monday through Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

UNO Music Faculty to Perform Holiday Songs Tonight

Tonight, Dec. 10, UNO invites you to celebrate the holidays, with members of UNO's music faculty providing the soundtrack.

UNO's Faculty Brass Quintet, along with percussionist Scott Shinbara, will present "Christmas to the Beat of a Different Drummer" at the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, located on UNO's Dodge Street campus, beginning at 7 p.m.

The program, which includes faculty members performing on the trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba, will feature holiday carols, jazz renditions of Christmas classics and original arrangements by members of the ensemble. Tickets for the concert are $10 for the general public and $5 for students or seniors. Faculty, staff and students can use their MavCard to get in for free. Read more.

Students, Alumni Celebrated at UNO's 2012 December Commencement

Student and alumni achievement will be the focus of UNO's 2012 December Commencement, which will be held this Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse.

UNO will host two ceremonies; the first will take place at 10 a.m. and the second will take place at 2 p.m.

The 10 a.m. event will include graduates at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral level for the colleges of Arts and Sciences; Education; Engineering (UNL); and Communication, Fine Arts and Media. The 2 p.m. event will confer the same degrees to the colleges of Business Administration; Public Affairs and Community Service; Education and Human Sciences (UNL); and Information Science & Technology.

To celebrate the achievements of graduating students, each ceremony will feature speeches from an undergraduate and graduate student. Read more.

Dec. 13 Framing the Flame: Art that Ignites at Joslyn

On Thursday, Dec. 13, two UNO faculty members Adrian R. Duran (Art History) and Wanda Ewing (Studio Art) will be participating in an event at the Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge St. Joslyn's "Late 'til 8" program starts at 6:30 p.m. Free with regular museum admission. Human Resources presents an informational seminar on "Medicare, Medicare Supplement Policies and Social Security" for faculty, staff and retirees this Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center State Room.

UNO Clay Club Sale Dec. 11-12

Everyone should have a ceramic gift for this holiday season! Come out and help support the clay club at UNO by purchasing handmade ceramic gifts created by students and local artists.
