Up to TopTree Removal Notice for Today, Tomorrow
Facilities Management and Planning staff report five Linden trees on the east side of the Pep Bowl will be removed starting today, Aug. 16. Tree removal by Hughes Tree Service continues through Friday, Aug. 17.
"We have consulted with local arboriculture experts on next steps and all agree that removal is warranted," said John Amend, director Facilities Management and Planning. "Following removal new replacement trees will be planted."
These 60-year old trees are near the end of their life cycle and have significantly deteriorated over the past few years, suffering from significant insect and structural damage. Major portions of the canopy have been removed and their continued deterioration poses a safety issue for the area.
