Summer Scholars Students Celebrate

Many of the 63 students that were part of this year's Summer Scholars program, and more than a couple alumni of the program celebrated the completion of UNO's Summer Scholars Program. Marking its fifth year in 2012, Summer Scholars is run through the Office of Multicultural Affairs and is designed to expose high school students to the dynamics of a college campus environment through a five-week pre-college summer session.

Shakespeare on the Green Continues This Evening
This is the final week for Nebraska Shakespeare's Shakespeare on the Green festival. For its 26th season, the production continues in Elmwood Park with two classic plays: "The Comedy of Errors" (July 5 and 7) and "Julius Caesar" (July 6 and 8).
The two professional productions are free to the public and regularly attended by thousands, many of who arrive early with picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs to get a good spot "on the Green," which is located at the northwest end of Elmwood Park. Parking Lot Reservations for 2012 Shakespeare on the Green
The remaining Shakespeare on the Green scheduled is July 5-8.
The south and west stalls in Lot M and the west stalls in Lot Q will be reserved all-day on performance nights.
In addition, on Special Event Nights (July 6) all of Lot M will be reserved continuing all through the day.

UNO Invited to Take Part in Third Annual Owl Ride
UNO students, faculty and staff are invited to a late-night bike ride July 14 for a good cause.
More than 2,000 cyclists are expected to ride in the third annual Owl Ride. The 14-mile ride is the largest annual night bicycle ride between Chicago and Denver.
Proceeds from the ride go to the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities.
The ride begins at 11 p.m. at Lewis and Clark Landing and continues on a specially designed route through downtown, midtown, Dundee, Aksarben, Field Club and Old Market neighborhoods. Cyclists will finish the course at the Lewis and Clark Landing.
To take part in the ride, cyclists must have front lights and front and rear reflectors on their bikes and wear a helmet. Cyclists must also register online at http://www.Owlride.org. Registration fees are $30 per person or $60 per family. Riders may also register on-site for an individual fee of $35 or $70 per family. Fees may be paid by cash or check.Up to Top
Voice Over PowerPoint Training Offered
The Academic Partnership for Instruction (API), a division of Information Services (IS), is offering a hands-on session for faculty and staff interested in learning how to record audio over PowerPoint presentations on Friday, July 20, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in 543 Kayser Hall.
This session will cover adding pre-recorded audio to a slide, recording your own voice narration to a single slide or an entire presentation and how to compress presentations. Space is limited, so register early. Although there is a limit of six seats, we will take a waiting list for a future training.
