Mail Services Offers USPS Cost Saving Advice
The USPS has announced restructuring of many facilities and sweeping changes in the organization as a whole. At this point in time these changes do not affect how UNO will conduct its mailing business. There are a few things everyone can do individually to help present university mail easier.
First and foremost is list cleansing or certification, not only for reduced rate mailings but for large first class mailings as well. Please send lists to unomailservices@unomaha.edu, the cost for certification is $2.50 per 500 records but will save many times that in materials and additional postage charges.
"Due to inaccurate addresses and the mobility of the population we are trying to reach, it just makes sense to reduce waste and overall costs in our effort to reach persons using services provided by the USPS," said Mike Burton, manager of Mail Services.
The next item concerns foreign mail, when required customs forms must be properly filled out for acceptance of international shipping. It is always a question as to which form to use or how can I get them? Follow this link to a customs form indicator it will provide information about the proper forms that can be filled out online. By simply printing and providing the cover sheet with your item, when presented at a post office a barcode scan will populate all the information you provided instantly.
Please remember if you have questions concerning your mail, feel free to contact anyone within your UNO Mail Services.
